What is Epoch Learners

Epoch Learners is a spinoff of what once was a K-5th Waldorf-inspired microschool in Bozeman, Montana. The founder, Chelsea Vail, and her partner-in-all-things-wild-and-free Mattie Mazur, closed Epoch in 2024 and are now launching Epoch (epic) "Take 2" ie Epoch Learners- Bozeman's "no school school".

"Soooo...I still don't know what this is." I hear you!

Epoch Learners can't be defined because, like all things, it's in constant evolution! Currently, Epoch (epic) is offering social clubs, enrichment, field trips, travel opportunities, unit studies, book clubs and the things we all loved about school without the stuffy institution, cold plastic chairs and mind numbing worksheets.

Think:

• Spelling bee

• School photos

• Student council

• Dances/flings

• Recess

• Social clubs

• "Cafeteria" lunches

• Talent show

• Book clubs

• Mentorship

How can you get hooked up and join in on the fun? Welp, you could sign up for individual activities such as our Wild Ones social club launching this September consisting of several Tuesday hiking meet-ups 3-5pm with Mattie and Chelsea or perhaps join in on our field trip to the Montana Corn Maze in October and have school portraits taken by a professional phototgrapher, but the best bang for yo buck is joining Epoch as a member. It's $225 a month and it may seem steap at first but here's what's included...EVERYTHING!

Members can join Mattie and Chelsea for social clubs, Wild Ones, Figments, Gamers (screen free), book clubs, spelling bee, unit studies, field trips, travel opportunities, philanthropy, pick-up games, park dates, and be invited on travel opportunities abroad as they arise. Oh, and because you're a member, you can email or text Chelsea randomly and pick her brain for homeschooling, unschooling, worldschooling, roadschooling or whatever-the-hell-schooling your family is into and she'll offer support!

You're new to homeschooling or youre new to Bozeman and you want your child to have friends. You can attend a few events, walk around the playground midweek midday hoping your child meshes with the kid whose mother you meshed with, or you can bite the bullet and join Epoch as a member and be included in all the goodness all year long.

The calendar right now has the basics...we'll be adding things all year long week by week as whimsy strikes and the program grows, and as a member- you're automatically included. but, be cool, you know? Don't start convos about hot button issues, don't pass out treats at events that contain things kids really shouldn't have, don't let your kid be a tootie head to others and handle yourself with grace around other moms.
