WHAT IS EPOCH

Founder
Chelsea Vail
Epoch (epic) is a resource for homeschooling families offering enrichment, events, field trips, travel opportunities, social clubs and workshops for parents and teachers online and in-person for the homeschooling community of Bozeman, Montana.

Epoch was once a K-5 Waldorf-inspired micro school set in the Gallatin Valley near Bozeman, Montana, and has since transformed to a local, and online resource, for homeschooling families and alternative schools abroad.

Chelsea Vail, Epoch's founder, holds a BS in Child Development and MA in Child & Family Therapy. She's a Certified Child Life Specialist and EC-4 educator who left mainstream education behind to homeschool her twin boys and be a voice for change in the way children are educated around the world whilst providing social opportunities, events, and resources for her community.
Meet Mattie

Team
Mattie Mazur
Mattie is a Montana-based educator with a degree in Environmental Studies and years of experience working with children in a variety of learning environments. Growing up exploring Montana and traveling widely, she brings a love of science, discovery and outdoor adventure into her teaching.

Mattie first met Chelsea, founder of Epoch, as an assistant teacher and later stepped into a full-time teaching role at Epoch when it was a K-5 microschool. Mattie has also worked as a tutor, backcountry guide and camp director, and is often invited into private homeschool settings to create personalised learning experiences. She works with a wide range of learners and is involved in the Bozeman homeschool community as a private middle school teacher and collaborator with local homeschool co-ops and schools.

Incorporating the outdoors and art into all her teaching, Mattie helps kids get excited about the world around them. When she’s not traveling, or lost in a good book, she’s been known to start spontaneous dance parties and firmly believes that being covered in mud is a sign of a good time. She aims to help children think deeply, build resilience and discover the magic of learning both indoors and outdoors.
